The complete circuit of Himachal pradest - Kinnaur - spiti - manali
Difficult terrain, magnificent mountain passes, some of the highest motorable roads, enchanting views, barren lands, exquisite food, streaming Rivers, and whatnot. The two places have attained popularity amongst a lot of adventure enthusiasts. The desert-like terrain of Spiti and lush green valleys of Kinnaur are something to vie for at least once in a lifetime. Massive Rivers Baspa and Spiti flowing through the deep gorges of the valleys, offer a tantalizing movie-like view which cannot be avoided but enjoyed.
The Tibetan-influenced culture of Spiti and Kinnaur is something noteworthy here. Being in the border areas on the Indo-Tibetan border, the two places are highly influenced by the Buddhist culture of Tibet. A number of monasteries built by Tibetans back in history serve as major religious places in the town, thereby offering spiritual lessons to the monks who live there. Not only does the culture, but the region also has a lot of culinary influence from Tibet, as many of its dishes are Tibetan-influenced.
Besides, the region encompasses numerous villages that are heritage sites and have been given the title of heritage villages by the UN. A lot of ‘highest in the world’ locations and roads lie in this area, making it even more adventurous for enthusiasts and travelers.
Day 01: Chandigarh to Shimla
As you reach Chandigarh Airport/railway station, our hospitable representative will be there to escort you to Shimla, the Queen of Hills. On reaching your destination, check into the hotel and relax. Later, visit the Viceregal Lodge, Mall Road, Ridge, and Christ Church. Enjoy the pleasant evening and stay overnight at the hotel in Shimla.
Day 02: Shimla to Sarahan
In the morning, proceed towards Sarahan via Narkanda. Enjoy the scenic drive through beautiful mountain landscapes and apple orchards. On arrival, visit the ancient Bhimakali Temple and seek blessings from Goddess Durga. Later, check into the hotel and stay overnight in Sarahan.
Day 03: Sarahan to Sangla – Chitkul
On day 3, visit the nearby Sangla Valley, one of the most picturesque valleys in Himachal Pradesh. Continue towards Chitkul, the last inhabited village on the Indo-Tibetan border. It lies in the Baspa Valley, from where the River Baspa dashes down the deep gorges while irrigating the village of Chitkul. Explore the village and surrounding landscapes before settling in for an overnight stay at Chitkul.
Day 04: Chitkul to Kalpa
The next morning, you will be driven to Kalpa village after breakfast. On the way, stop at Reckong Peo and enjoy the vividness of the local market and buy local products. Being the district headquarters of Kinnaur District, you can enjoy a local lunch at the restaurant, trying all kinds of Indian as well as Tibetan delicacies. Post lunch, proceed to Kalpa and witness the majestic view of Mt. Kinner Kailash. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 05: Kalpa to Tabo
Post breakfast, drive towards Tabo while halting at Nako. On the way, visit Nako Lake and the village where you can enjoy a delicious lunch before continuing towards Tabo. As you reach Tabo in the evening, visit the famous Tabo Monastery and check into the hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 06: Tabo to Kaza
Visit the very popular Tabo Monastery in the village situated at an altitude of 3,200 meters. The gompa is famous for preserving old Buddhist scriptures and statues. After seeking blessings at the thousand-year-old monastery, continue towards Dhankar Monastery. Thereafter, proceed to explore Kibber, Chicham, Langza and Hikkim villages before reaching Kaza. Upon arrival, check into the hotel and stay overnight at Kaza.
Day 07: Kaza to Chandratal
Today, leave Kaza and drive towards the mesmerizing Chandratal Lake. En route, enjoy the dramatic landscapes of Spiti Valley and the high-altitude desert terrain. Upon arrival, spend time admiring the pristine beauty of the lake before checking into the campsite. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Chandratal Camp.
Day 08: Chandratal
Today is reserved to experience the serene beauty of Chandratal Lake. Spend the day exploring the surroundings, enjoying short walks around the lake and soaking in the breathtaking Himalayan views. Return to the campsite for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 09: Chandratal to Chhatru
After breakfast, proceed towards Chhatru via Batal. Enjoy the rugged mountain landscapes and spectacular views along the route. Upon arrival, check into the camp/hotel and relax. Stay overnight at Chhatru.
Day 10: Chhatru to Manali
Drive towards Manali via the Atal Tunnel. Upon arrival, explore Manali and visit popular attractions including Solang Valley and Old Manali. Enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of the hill station before retiring for the night. Stay overnight at Manali.
Day 11–12: Manali – Manikaran – Chandigarh
As you have explored the mountains, continue towards Manikaran in the beautiful Parvati Valley. Visit the revered Manikaran Sahib Gurudwara and enjoy the scenic surroundings. Later, begin your return journey to Chandigarh. Catch your onward flight or train to reach home.
