The Exter costs the same as our sedans but sits higher off the ground, which is the one spec that actually matters on a hill trip: more clearance over the broken patches between Rampur and Kaza, and a better view of the road on the switchbacks above Kufri and Narkanda. If your itinerary includes Spiti, Kinnaur, or any route with recent landslide damage, this is the sedan-priced car we'd point you toward first.
Seating and boot capacity match the Dzire and Tigor — 4 seats, 2 medium bags — so it's not a bigger car, just a more capable one on rough ground. If you need more than 2 bags or a third row for kids to stretch out, the Innova Crysta is the next step up.
We put families heading toward Kaza or Chandratal in the Exter over a sedan whenever the fare works out the same, purely because the road earns it.
