The Innova Crysta is what most families and small groups end up in once the group is six people, or four people with a week's luggage. Six real seats — not a squeeze — and a boot that swallows four bags without anyone holding a rucksack on their lap for eight hours. It's the vehicle we recommend by default for any Himachal circuit longer than three days.
It handles the mountain roads better than a sedan or compact SUV: more power on the climbs out of Shimla toward Narkanda and Rampur, and a smoother ride over the patched sections on the Manali and Spiti routes. On a multi-day trip that's the difference between arriving tired and arriving fine.
It costs more than the sedans and the Exter, and for a two-person short trip that premium isn't worth paying. For a family of five or six on a proper circuit — Shimla, Manali, Spiti, or the Punjab loop — it's usually the right call, and it's the car our returning group bookings ask for by name.
