Kullu
Bijli Mahadev is a famous Hindu temple located in the Kullu Valley of Himachal Pradesh, India. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is situated at an altitude of about 2,460 meters (8,100 feet) above sea level. The temple is renowned for its unique architecture and the legend associated with it, where it’s believed that lightning (bijli) strikes the Shiva Lingam inside the temple, breaking it into pieces, and then the priest of the temple restores it using butter and sattoo (a mixture of roasted gram flour and jaggery). It’s a popular pilgrimage site and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding Himalayan mountains.
